MAYUR

Inspired by the Peacock of Mithila

Collection Philosophy

Every saree is hand-painted.Every piece is one of a kind.

MITHILA is inspired by the artistic heritage of Mithila and Madhubani painting. Each saree is a surface an artist works on directly, so no two are ever the same.

At VARSHA ANAND, we believe a saree is more than a garment — it is a living canvas of India’s artistic heritage. The Mithila Collection celebrates the timeless tradition of Madhubani painting by bringing together master artisans and authentic Bhagalpuri Tussar Silk. Each piece is individually hand-painted, ensuring that no two sarees are ever exactly alike.

The Inspiration

Mayur is inspired by the peacock — one of the most celebrated motifs in Mithila art.

For generations, the peacock has symbolised beauty, grace, joy, prosperity and celebration. It represents harmony between nature, art and tradition, making it one of the most cherished symbols of Indian folk heritage.

Through Mayur, this timeless icon is reimagined on Pure Bhagalpuri Tussar Silk, preserving the authenticity of Mithila while presenting it through contemporary luxury.

Design Philosophy

The artwork is not printed onto the silk and it is not a repeat. Each roundel is drawn and filled by hand, which is why the border of one Mayur will never exactly match another.
